Hamiltonians are struggling with gentrification, rising rents, and long wait lists for subsidized housing. Yet innovative organizations are building affordable units and promoting new ideas to provide adequate, safe and affordable housing for everyone. Come out and join the discussion with two people actively in search of new solutions. Graham Cubitt is Director of Projects and Development at Indwell, creating affordable housing for people living with a disability. Emma Cubitt is a community organizer and architect with Invizij Architects in Hamilton. You may also recognize their names as prime movers in the Mustard Seed Co-op and the Hill Street Community Garden. For more information, contact Sarah Ayerst, Bill Johnston or Nancy Willson.
This event is organized by this church’s branch of the Unitarian Universalist-United Nations Office and by the church’s Affordable Housing Subcommittee.
For stories of first hand experience with precarious housing in Hamilton, come to hear John Mills speak at the service on Sunday November 26 at 10:30.
