“Finding Hope in the Ashes”
Climate activist Tzeporah Berman described 2023 as “the year Canada exploded”. Wildfires and
wildfire smoke, severe storms, floods, evacuation orders, drought and extreme heat brought the
climate emergency to the doorstep of Canadians. At this darkest time of the year we will reflect
on the loss and anxiety we are feeling about the climate crisis. We will also look for signs of joy
and light as we consider how we might respond to the challenges ahead. This fall Jennifer Reid
and her family participated in Canadian Geographic’s “Live Net Zero Challenge”. She will share
their experiences and ideas about taking climate action and finding hope. Family friend service.
