Solar Panel Project - 2013

In May 2013, the church invested in a set of solar panels on the south side of the roof as a show of its commitment to renewal energy specifically and our environment in general.  The Church entered into a 20-year microFIT contract with the Ontario Power Authority:

“Each year the panels will generate an estimated 13,000 to 15,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. That’s a bit more than the average Ontario home uses in a year. It’s about one quarter of the church’s annual electricity use.

We don’t use the power ourselves. We sell it to the Ontario Power Authority. The power flows into the Horizon Utilities electricity grid. We have a contract with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) which guarantees that the OPA will buy every kilowatt hour of power we generate for 54.9 cents a kilowatt hour for 20 years.”
