Becoming a member

When you become a member of The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton you become a vital part of our spiritual and social community and may participate in the decision-making that determines the future of the congregation.

We invite members to volunteer and bring their curiosity and enthusiasm to our congregational operations and activities.

Membership rights and responsibilities include:

  • Expected to contribute a responsible share (what personal circumstances permit) toward meeting congregational financial needs.
  • Encouraged to take part in the community’s volunteer activities.
  • May vote at congregational meetings.
  • May serve on the Board of Directors and congregational committees.
  • May serve as delegates to UU activities and assemblies.

“The hunger for true community, for connection and commitment, is pervasive in our time. As Unitarian Universalists, we are called to spiritual hospitality by feeding the spiritually hungry and offering a home to the religiously homeless. Our future depends on whether we can connect with people at the level of their deepest longings and highest aspirations. And in the process, we too are enriched in spirit.” – Peter Morales, UUA President
