Fathers’ Day

Multigenerational Service Sunday

The recent location of children’s graves at the former Kamloops Residential School in B.C. fulfills the worst nightmares of Indigenous parents whose children were taken from them and never seen again.  It is a reminder to all of us of the troubling legacy of Canada’s relationship with its First Nations communities, and an urgent impetus to hold ourselves, our institutions, and our politicians accountable for demanding change, accepting accountability, and keeping promises to people long denied their humanity, rights, and freedoms.  The past can’t be held accountable – the only ones who can make a difference are those of us here today who can demand changes in the course of history.  Today we talk about what we can do.
