October brings with it the theme of Courage this year, and our first service asks us to wrestle with the idea of having challenging conversations. Brené Brown speaks of this idea in her book Rising Strong where she says “You can choose courage or you can choose comfort, but you cannot have both. Not at the same time.” What does this mean for a community that seeks to come together across our differences, and hold the ideal “We need not think alike to love alike”?
