Affordable Housing
The church’s Affordable Housing Team exists to promote greater options for city residents to be adequately, securely and affordably housed, as the bedrock for wellbeing and dignity. We have advocated at all three levels of government, worked with other organizations on housing, education and election projects, and have raised about $50,000 for Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing Inc., which provides housing for Indigenous people Sacajawea’s 23-unit building on West Avenue South is pictured here.)

Oct. 24, 2023
Jacob Gorenkoff, the Director of Policy and Government Relations with the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association in Ottawa, was the guest speaker for our national Zoom presentation, Housing Affordability: What Ottawa Must Do and Why.
This was the third session this year produced by our congregation’s Affordable Housing Team with the Housing and Homelessness Subcommittee at St. Paul’s United Church. The event was hosted by our team’s co-chair, Bill Johnston, who was at McMaster University, courtesy of the Canadian Housing Evidence Collaborative at McMaster.
