Affordable Housing and the Upcoming Election

Municipal election debates

Cable 14 is continuing to televise debates among Hamilton municipal election candidates for all 15 wards and for the mayor’s race. The last ward debates are today and tomorrow and the mayor’s debate is the 27th, at 7 or 8:30 p.m. Details are at https://cable14.com/15137184/tv-shows/2022-municipal-election-debates The debates will presumably be recorded to be watched later if you miss them live.

Learn what the candidates think

A local group called iElect has been working for more than a year to articulate a vision for a better Hamilton. Now, during the municipal election campaign, it has sent a survey to all of the candidates and is publishing their answers on their webpage at https://www.ielecthamilton.ca/candidate-profiles/

Last week, 26 of the 93 candidates have replied. The candidates are basically asked what they would do to improve the city’s leadership, infrastructure, economy, environment, communities and transportation. Disappointing not to see a specific question about housing but housing could be a priority under infrastructure, economy or communities.
