Asexuality is an ‘umbrella’ term that may be used by people who experience little to no sexual attraction. Asexual people may or may not choose to engage in sexual behaviours, for a variety of reasons. Asexual people may be interested in romantic relationships or may be aromantic; the terms are not mutually inclusive.
Some common identities within asexuality:
- Demisexual: a person who does not experience sexual attraction until a strong emotional bond has been formed with another person
- Grey-asexual: a person who identifies as being on a spectrum of asexuality, but may not be solely asexual
