Exploring Nature Sanctuaries as a Citizen Scientist – A Great Family Activity

The Hamilton Naturalist Club (HNC) is hosting a number of “bio blitzes”. What is a ‘bio blitz’ you may ask.  A bio blitz is a biological inventory or biological census. The primary goal is to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms that live in a particular place.  An app called “I Naturalist” will be used to record observations.  These events are located at the HNC properties and will include a guide to assist in identification and entering in “I Naturalist”.

An orientation to the use of “I Naturalists” can be found here:

This is a marvelous way to spend some time walking and wandering in nature sanctuaries.  Fun for adults and kids alike.

Due to spring weather rubber boots, long pants, hats, bug spray are highly recommended and of course snacks/water.
