CN Rail is still holding up work to creating affordable and market housing on the former Jamesville CityHousing Site. The project is to build 46 CityHousing units, with rents geared to income, up to 120 Indwell affordable units and 364 private market units on the site on James North at Strachan West. But CN continues to oppose the plan, citing concerns about possible noise and odour complaints. Meanwhile, nearby residents see people squatting on the site and deteriorating buildings and desperately needed affordable housing can’t be built.
