Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing would be delighted to see lots of Unitarians out this Monday at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 for the groundbreaking ceremony for their newest and largest affordable housing project—at 204 Gage Avenue North, just north of Barton. Please wear an orange shirt in honour of National Day of Truth and Reconciliation the following day.
This 40-unit building with provide Indigenous Hamiltonians with supportive housing—not just housing that’s affordable but housing that provides needed health services and other supports for those who need some extra help.
This is one of two buildings Sacajawea expects to start this year. A smaller building will be built just up the street from the church at 95 Dundurn Street South, with a building permit expected by year end. This will push Sacajawea’s total number of units above 100. In 2015, they had 28.
