Keys to Affordable Housing: A Hamilton-Burlington Tenants’ Forum features Dr. Carolyn Whitzman, whose just-published book, Home Truths: Fixing Canada’s Housing Crisis, is the first comprehensive look at the current affordability crisis and proven solutions that would work here. And it features tenant organizer Sharlene Henry (born in Hamilton) who is in the midst of a rent strike challenging excessive rent increases in Toronto. They, and local tenants, will help us understand the issues facing tenants,  who make up a third of Canadian households (and rising) but have none of the security of homeowners. And we will break into small groups to consider how we can get our politicians to make the needed changes, and what we can do to help tenants hang on to their homes in the meantime.” It’s in our sanctuary, Friday November 15, 6-9 p.m. It’s free but please register at Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/keys-to-affordable-housing-a-hamilton-burlington-tenant-forum-tickets-1060413889489
