City staff have been directed to explore all possible properties the city owns as possible sites for a tiny cabin community for people experiencing homelessness. But a staff proposal for financial support has been deferred. Councillors still have lots of questions and it is difficult to determine how much support there is.
Otherwise, the project is doing well. About 700 people have donated close to $300,000 to build, equip and staff a collection the tiny cabins community. About 90 people have volunteered to help make it all work. Wesley Urban Ministries, the Social Planning and Research Council, the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre and The Hub have thrown their considerable weight and prestige behind the project. We will get there.
