Thinking Beyond the Market: A Film About Genuinely Affordable Housing is a documentary about housing solutions that will be shown at our church on Sunday May 10 2-4:30 pm. From using public land to build non-market housing in Kitchener and Whistler, and inspiring Indigenous-led projects in Vancouver, to strong tenant protections and rent control in British Columbia and Prince Edward Island, the examples featured demonstrate the many ways existing efforts are already making life better for Canadians in the midst of today’s housing crisis. Dr. Brian Doucet, housing researcher and associate professor at the University of Waterloo, directed.
