Message from the Canvass 2025 Team (Oct 10)

Mosaic Tile Count Oct 10

We are off to a good start towards our Canvass goal!  Each piece of sea glass in our sea glass quilt represents $2K pledged so far.  Keep them sailing in!

Our theme is ‘Commitment to Community’.  Commitment to our beloved community of a financial sort is a very personal question, and may, indeed, be stressful.  Rev. Danie said for UUs, we’d rather talk about sex.

We are a congregation in good shape financially on the books, and yet…. Are we ready to commit to strengthening this community to get to where we want to go?  If not you and me, then who? If not now, when? A significant portion of our operating costs are funded by long time members who have witnessed this church and it’s transformations through the decades. If you have the capacity to increase your financial support we can help to share the load! And if you have limited resources, please also commit to whatever is appropriate for your circumstances. Every commitment to our community helps!

Can we look at life through the lens of generosity, like Stone Soup, or one piece of sea glass, or one cement stepping stone? Can you add a spoonful or more of grout to cement our connections? Having faith in the future, having confidence in our staff, having a commitment to contribute financially AND with our time and talents — that’s what makes a great congregation, one that can continue to support us, and grow when many churches, heck, many non-profit organizations, are unable to continue.

Please give generously this year out of a sense of abundance and gratitude. If you haven’t pledged in the past, let this be the year.  If you have pledged, please consider increasing your pledge as we continue this synergistic dance of giving and receiving.

Your pledge can be made via the options in the Canvass package email you received or on the website.  You may also visit the Canvass table before or after church on Oct. 13 or Oct. 20, where people will be available to answer questions or submit a pledge on your behalf.

Thanks for being a part of this congregation.
