Title:
A/V Technician
Hierarchy:
Active member of the existing A/V Tech Team.
Description:
Responsibility for setting up, operating and maintaining all audio and video equipment during church services and special events, ensuring clear sound and visual quality for the congregation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Pre-service setup: One audio tech and one video tech.-Set up and breakdown audio and video equipment including microphones, monitors, mixing console, projectors, projection screens and streaming system before and after services.
- Live audio mixing: Adjust sound levels and video transitions during services to ensure optimal quality for both the in-sanctuary and on-line congregation.
- Video switching: Operating video switcher to display appropriate visuals like worship slides, live camera feeds and prerecorded (by others) content.
- Technical support: Troubleshooting technical issues during services and providing assistance to other church staff with A/V needs.
- Special events support: Setting up and operating A/V systems for special events like weddings, funerals, concerts, conferences, social justice events, Hamilton’s Naturalist and Bird Study group meetings. The majority of these special events result in the applicable A/V Technician(s) being paid $30 per hour for a minimum 4 hour period.
- Collaboration: Working closely with the worship team, minister and other ministry leaders to understand their needs and ensure a smooth execution of services.
Time Commitment:
Three (3) hours per event
All assignments are scheduled in advance on a monthly basis. Typical assignments are two Sundays per month.

Duration: Ongoing or with specific start and end dates.
Skills Required:
- Training and role shadowing will be provided.
- Numerous online training videos and forums are available as needed.
