Join the Welcoming Congregation Teams via Zoom on Monday, January 17th from 7PM to 8:30PM for an free educational exploration of a topic that is rarely discussed frankly: sex work. We UU’s often pride ourselves on open-mindedness and progressiveness, but the topic of sex work is still a taboo in Canadian society.
Sex worker, advocate, and Executive Director of SWAP Hamilton Jelena Vermilion joins us to discuss: the Canadian historical context, how laws and policies work to reproduce and uphold systemic injustices; and intersections of oppressions, particularly for transgender people and Black and Indigenous people of colour.
There will be an opportunity for questions and answers during the event.
