Stay Up-To-Date: You can receive the latest newsletter of the Hamilton Social Medicine Response Team (HAMSMaRT) and Keeping Six, which provide health, harm reduction and other services to people experiencing homelessness, by requesting to joining their email communication at info@hamsmart.ca
This month’s newsletter includes news of the death of housing advocate Ezra/Vanessa Amos, a strong supporter of encampment residents, and criticism of the city’s latest decision to ramp up eviction of encampments from city parks. That decision, HAMSMaRT notes, flies in the face of a decision two months earlier for the city to work with people with lived experience of life on the streets and with frontline workers to create “comprehensive, human-rights based, health-focused solutions for residents living encamped across Hamilton.”
Writing Contest Awards: There’s more, including the announcement that Dawn Stowell, a new member of our congregation, won two of the Keeping Six Second Annual Writing Contest Awards, for fiction and for poetry. Congratulations Dawn! The judges were well-known Hamilton writers. http://keepingsix.org/zine/
