The Theme for November is Repair

Why Repair?

The worship theme for November is Repair. A common definition of repair is “to restore by replacing a part or putting together what is torn or broken” At one time people would routinely repair household items, clothing and other possessions. Over time this practice changed and damaged items tend to be discarded. Many no longer have the skills to fix things and in some cases manufacturers have created barriers to modifying or repairing devices.

Things are changing. On a planet overwhelmed by over-consumption and waste individuals are re-discovering the world of repair. Repairing or re-purposing can extend the life of our possessions, saving resources and keeping items out of the landfill. Learning new skills and completing repair projects gives one a sense of accomplishment. These links will take you an example of repair as a community effort and a method of repair that is creative and beautiful.
