Come out to hear noted author Ricardo Tranjan on March 29. Reserve your spot now.

In his provocative book The Tenant Class, Ricardo Tranjan challenged the idea that we’re experiencing a housing crisis. Clearly, a lot of people are struggling to afford housing, but that’s not unusual, as the word crisis implies. He argues that our for-profit housing system is meant to work this way, to enrich landlords. He says we need to “move as much [rental housing] provision as possible outside private markets; tightly regulate the remaining market provision; organize tenants to ensure quality and access.” There’s much more in this slim 110-page volume by the Ontario research director and senior researcher at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
You can hear him speak on Sunday March 29, 1-2:30 p.m. at 1 James North, Rooms 204-206 at an event organized by Hamilton Centre MPP Robin Lennox. Space is limited so register early at https://www.robinlennox.ca/tenant_townhall
